Woman ‘sealed’ dead teen in bedroom for a month

An Ohio woman has been arrested after a teenager was found dead in a bedroom of her home where she allegedly had been for a month before police discovered the body during a welfare check.

LaRonda Anne Mitchell He was arrested on Tuesday, May 5 and taken into custody. She was charged with one count each of manslaughter, kidnapping, child endangerment, tampering with evidence, abuse of a corpse and misdemeanor failure to report a crime, according to court records. US Weekly.

According to a probable cause affidavit obtained, Austintown Police Department officers went to the residence to conduct a welfare check on a juvenile around 4 p.m. WKBN. When they arrived, a woman opened the door and authorities described her as having an “indifferent attitude.”

Investigators spoke with a 12-year-old child at the home who reportedly said everything was fine. However, when police searched the house they found the bedroom door taped shut. Police later entered the bedroom and discovered the teen’s body.

Someone inside the home told investigators the room had been “sealed” to contain the smell, adding that Davis had been dead for at least a month.

As the investigation continued, authorities learned that the situation appeared to be related to religious healing. Family members allegedly told police that Davis’ death “had to happen” so that she could “heal” after becoming ill, WFMJ reported.

After Davis’ body was discovered, police detained two other children living in the home.

Authorities issued a warrant for Mitchell’s arrest on Monday, May 4, and she was booked into the Mahoning County Jail the next day.

Mitchell, 38, appeared via video for her arraignment hearing, and the court set her bail at $500,000.

It was unclear whether Mitchell had entered a plea or retained legal counsel following his arrest. There was no immediate response from the Austin Township Police Department. us‘ asked for comment on the case.

The Mahaning County Coroner’s Office has not disclosed the cause or manner of Davis’ death. Investigators are continuing to work to determine what happened at the home before her death.

Mitchell, who remains in custody, is scheduled to return to court on May 27 for a preliminary hearing.
