Will Trent Killed a main character – and now the actor is talking about their shocking exit.

Son’s Exit receives backlashwhich she addressed in multiple social media posts. The 61-year-old actress took to Instagram on Saturday, April 18, to express how “surprised” people are at the reaction to Amanda’s death.
“Once you get the pink slip, it’s just a job. I got a job, just like you get a job. It’s just a job,” she explained. “Actors are really the lower man on the totem pole when it comes to big structures. When you get the pink slip, you don’t ask about it. You just say goodbye.”
While reflecting on her departure, Thorne promised to share more insight into having to “say goodbye” to her past roles.
“(In my upcoming memoir, I’ll talk about) the ins and outs of it and everything that comes with the business,” she shared. “It’s not always the time to talk about specifics, because one of the things I learned through Amanda’s experience and being in this situation is that she’s a more thoughtful, reserved character than I am. When I interact with the character, we give each other aspects of ourselves.”
Thorne noted that her “expression is a little more reserved” now. “The best years are yet to come,” she concluded. “Cheers to Will Trent. Cheers to Amanda. Oh my gosh. What a character. What an honor and privilege. So hang in there. We’re going to be okay. There’s a lot of Sonja Sohn coming up.”
“I can’t express enough how grateful I am to the @willtrentabc fans who pour their hearts into my page,” Sohn wrote in the post.
She added: “I’ve tried my best (sic) to reply to each and every one of you, but the comments keep piling up and I still have some life to live. Please know that I’m accepting and grateful for your precious attention and support. I promise to honor that by giving you something you can sink your teeth into and celebrate with me in the near future.”

“Amanda has been protective of Will for as long as she’s known him,” Rosenthal told Variety in a statement. “So this gives us the opportunity to present a whole new dynamic in GBI because her successor won’t have the same relationship with Will. Her death impacted most of the characters the most. It really left everyone reeling from this huge loss. So, it’s a reset for our characters and it’s painful but exciting for season five.”
Rosenthal told the outlet that Thorne realized early in Season 4 that her arc was coming to an end and she handled the news with “grace.”
“No one can always exit a show on their own terms, even on the writing side,” added executive producer Daniel Thomson. “It’s hard to do that gracefully. So it’s very impressive. She’s a complete professional.”
