Why does China ban the sale of drones in Beijing?

China will ban the sale of drones in Beijing and require a license to fly them under new rules that take effect on Friday.

It is prohibited to sell, lease or bring drones and their key parts into the capital. Drone owners will also need to register their devices with the police.

Drones and flying taxis are part of the so-called low-altitude economy, a strategic priority for China and expected to generate more than 2 trillion yuan ($290 billion; £217 billion) in revenue by 2035.

The BBC’s Laura Bicker investigates why China is tightening regulations on drones, with authorities citing public safety.
