The staff has been through ups and downs with Maggie (Missy Peregrine) When serial killer Ray DiStefano experiences tragedy (Matthew Rauch) kidnapped and killed her sister Irene (Adrienne Rose Bentson).

“I think what we’re doing is really important because we emphasize how to move forward. Everyone goes through loss. Everyone goes through emotional depths in life,” she explained to Deadline in March. “You have the opportunity to show connection, relationship, intimacy and growth. That’s why I do what I do. I hope it makes people feel seen and makes them want to keep going after such a horrific experience and not give up.”

Peregrine is hopeful Performance plan.

“So far. I was like, ‘What are we going to do after this?’ You know, I’ve been playing the same character for eight years and we’re getting so far,” she noted. “What’s the plan? How are we going to go through the next steps and get back on our feet and engage with the world again? We’re not a show where you sit on the couch in your underwear and talk. We have to get back to work.”

She concluded, “So at what point are we addressing the reality of this scene, and we’re doing that in the best way possible on our show, just like we do procedurally. But you know, as much as it scares me, I’m terrified of finally getting into that space. I find it really fun to play my character now and find the beats of when I can plug these things in and when they work. It’s just a challenge. It feels like we’re on a new show again, you know what I mean? Maybe that’s a gift.”

Missy Peregrine

Peregrine recently denied plans to quit the show after Maggie mourned the loss of her sister.

“I’ll be honest. I’m on a procedural show and I wonder what impact that might have? It scares me sometimes because I think we’re highlighting some of the horrors of being human every week,” Peregrine told Deadline in March. “What is this? What are we doing this for? What am I dedicating so much of my life to doing this for?”

After joining the show’s eighth season, Martinez said she hoped she could Reprising her role as Eva Ramos.

“Before I came on the show, I sat down with showrunner Mike Weiss and told me who he thought Eva was going to be. That was really the deciding factor for me like, ‘Yeah, this is really interesting for me. I think I can deliver and give it value and make it exciting and different,'” she told Us Weekly exclusively. “When you go on a new show, you have the opportunity to do something different. It’s definitely like, ‘Okay, how do you show a different side of a profession? How do you show how different women approach something in a different way?'”
