What happens to Mariska Hargitay in the SVU Season 27 finale?

On the Thursday, May 14, episode titled “Monster,” things come to a head when Benson goes head-to-head with Chief Kathryn Tynan.or dumezweni) for the final showdown.

Tynan suspended Benson as SVU captain earlier this season. During this period, rookie detective Jack Griffin (Corey Cotter) tried to dig up dirt on Tynan to help end tensions. They had a close relationship as Tynan became Griffin’s surrogate parent after his father died in the line of duty. However, Griffin found Tynan on Thursday Help his father (he may be a dirty cop) Cover up a murder.

Elsewhere in the episode, Griffin was shot and killed in the line of duty. When Tynan arrives at the hospital, Tynan threatens Benson’s job for putting her team in danger.

“I’ll get your badge for this,” Tynan told Benson. “Your career is over and I no longer regret it.”

Benson responded: “I don’t think that’s going to happen.”

It was later revealed that Griffin taped a conversation with Tynan about his father, so this really is Tynan’s career on the line.

Benson made it clear she had no intention of using the recording, but refused to let Tynan “ruin” her career.

SVU show host Michelle Porter Tell people Ahead of the finale, she wants viewers to understand that Benson’s career is coming to an end.

“Mariska has been on this show for 27 years. You have to think, ‘This is going to end at some point,’ so let’s not lose sight of that,” she said. “Let’s work in that direction.”

While making Season 27, Fazekas wanted Benson to reveal why she was still doing the job.

“It’s like, ‘I’m doing this because there’s nothing I can do,'” Fazekas said. “So she kind of recommitted herself.”

forward SVU Heading into next season — NBC officially renewed the show last month — Fazekas wants fans to know that “the most important part is this core group of detectives.”

“I really hope it goes back to that,” she told people. “They found the guy and everything is taken care of with Tynan.”
