Video shows suspect charging at reporter’s dinner party for inspection

U.S. police said the suspected gunman at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner was carrying multiple weapons when he rushed toward a security checkpoint.

Surveillance video released by Donald Trump shows the suspect running through a metal detector as security personnel draw their guns.

Washington, D.C., Police Chief Jeffrey W. Carroll said officers exchanged gunfire with the suspect and that a U.S. Secret Service agent was “shot in the vest.” He was taken to hospital and is said to be in “good spirits.”

The suspect, whom police described as a “lone shooter,” was not hit by gunfire but was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
