If you’re a big fan of the artist, Spotify will let you book a ticket to their next show. This is the new opportunity for the audio platform to keep users engaged and moving more to qualify as a fan.
Spotify didn’t provide a specific signal to be a “true fan,” but said it will use signals such as streams, segments, etc. However, it added that the platform will monitor the situation to ensure that users do not play these statistics using bots or AI agents.
“There will be more fans than available seats on the tour, so not every fan will receive a donation. And by inviting only certified fans, we will help more tickets go directly to fans instead of scalpers,” said Spotify in a blog post.
Eligible fans will receive an email with an in-app notification to purchase two tickets. The company said eligible fans 18 or older in the US will have the opportunity to purchase two tickets during a dedicated one-day window. It also advised users to keep track of current events and location updates. Spotify is only conducting ticket sales, and users will need to purchase a ticket from their partner’s website.
Spotify said that users who receive and give can buy tickets for any show on the tour, and can choose the date, place, and seats, the availability of which may change.
