Authorities said about 200 people gathered outside the Washington State event hall and a suspect was arrested on murder charges.

Carrasco-Sanchez, 49, was arrested that evening after a police pursuit, the department said in a news release on Sunday, April 12.
According to authorities, on April 11, police responding to a call of a shooting at the event hall found two people shot to death outside the venue. Law enforcement has not released their identities.
Officers then spotted a “suspicious vehicle leaving the scene and initiated a pursuit,” police said, adding that “the pursuit entered West Longview and then circled back into town.”
During the police pursuit, Carrasco-Sanchez threw a semiautomatic handgun out of the car window, according to police. The weapon was eventually recovered.
At some point, Carrasco-Sanchez drove back to the AWPPW lobby parking lot, got out of the car and fled, police said.
“After a brief foot chase, he was arrested,” police said in a news release.
As of Monday, April 13, it was unclear whether Carrasco-Sanchez had an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
Law enforcement did not specify a potential motive for the shooting.
Shooting unfolds During the coming-of-age ceremonyAccording to KGW-TV, people involved in the cleanup of the event hall on the morning of Sunday, April 11.
On April 11, a woman who brought decorations to the event hall also told KPTV, shooting Occurs during a bar mitzvah. The network did not reveal her name.

“It was like every police officer in town was there,” Phillips told KPTV.
In addition to Longview police, officers and deputies from the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office, Kelso police and the Washington State Fish and Wildlife Department also responded to the shooting.
The Longview Police Department said in a news release that the agency does not expect to release additional information about the shooting.
Longview is located near the Oregon border. It’s about a 50-mile drive northwest of Portland.
