Hinelle Jones She was emotional as she celebrated her first celebration since her husband’s death. Ou Jie’s thoughts.
“As I sat on the plane ride home with tears streaming down my face, I thought this was the perfect moment to connect with you all,” Jones wrote in an Instagram post on Sunday, April 19. “Today is my 48th birthday and I honestly can’t stop crying.”
She continued, “Tears of gratitude, tears of pain because this is the first time I’ve lost Uche, and tears filled with gratitude for the past seven days. I have never felt so much love in my life. Thank you for your prayers and support over the past year.”

As she celebrates, Jones thanks all the fans who helped her sell out through mom’s eyes Book Tour, published on Tuesday, April 14th.
“I can’t put into words what it feels like to have sold out crowds in every city…and what it feels like to take these photos with smiling faces,” Jones wrote in her caption summary. “Uche loved the Beatles; when I mark the beginning of ’48’ – I do… feel the sunshine. Thank you so much.”
Jones posted a series of photos from each of her book tour stops, including one showing her next to a giant pink cake.

“As you all know, this year is huge for me,” she said. “It’s been a roller coaster ride.”
Jones’ husband, Ojie; Died in May 2025 at the age of 45 after battling brain cancer. The couple has a 16-year-old son, Kayin, and 13-year-old twins Clara and Uche Jr.
During the Friday, April 17 episode of the show, Jones tried to “not get too emotional” while discussing her birthday with costar Jenna Bush Hager. Today with Jenna and Shinelle.
“Forty-seven is a lot, and now it’s 48,” Jones said. “When I turned 47, it was a hard day on my 47th birthday, and I just couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. So, being 48 is so wonderful, being able to be with you guys, with you guys, it really is – it lets you know that if you’re in something, you know there’s light there.”
