Scaled-down victory parade held in Moscow’s Red Square

Moscow’s Victory Day parade on Saturday was much quieter than usual, with fewer guests, fewer reporters and no military equipment on display.

The annual show of military power was scaled back due to security concerns, with Russian authorities concerned that Ukrainian forces could attack Red Square with drones.

A last-minute ceasefire came after Kyiv agreed not to attack the parade, brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump.

But the smaller display, without the usual tanks or ballistic missiles, is a reminder that Russia’s war in Ukraine may not go as planned.
