Disturbing Your Computerhis answer to OpenClaw and other artificial intelligence agents, is now available to all Mac users through his desktop app, the company. he announced Thursday.

As a reminder, Your Computer is an extension of Perplexity’s general-purpose, multi-model digital worker called, confusingly, Hacking Computers. The “Personal Computer,” meanwhile, was designed to bring that power to your devices. It does this by allowing AI agents to access local files, programs, and connections, as well as the Internet, to handle individualized, multi-step processes.

Or, as the company describes Personal Computer, it “takes the PC out of the cloud and puts it on the device where most of your work is already done.”

The goal is to meet the growing demand for local AI agents, known as OpenClaw, that can work on behalf of users. But when OpenClaw gave several security risks because of its elevated permissions, solutions like Personal Computer are designed to provide users with a secure AI-assisted computer environment. (Or so the claim.)

Perplexity’s Personal Computer was to inform last month, but they were limited to Perplexity Max subscribers and had a waiting list. Today, the company says anyone on a Mac can try the app as part of its new Perplexity Mac program. (Anyone can download the new software, but Your Computer requires a Pro or Max subscription.)

At launch, the program can work with local files, Mac applications, and work online. It can also create tools, files, use over 400 plugins, and add your own custom content, all within a secure development environment on Perplexity’s servers.

When combined with Perplexity’s AI-powered Comet browser, it can use web resources without the need for a direct connection.

Designed to run independently on ever-present devices like the Mac Mini, Desktop can be accessed remotely from your iPhone, where you can launch tasks or accept requests from your device.

Confusion shows that this can be used for all types of work, such as working with pages, documents, and projects with different tools. Because this tool can work in all programs, agents can do things like compare two files from different programs or pull documents from another program to create other documents.

Due to its availability, Perplexity says its old Mac app will be phased out in the coming weeks so the team can focus on the Personal Computer app.

The new Mac app is available as a direct download only for now; it’s not in the Mac App Store.
