Emilie Kiser has released a touching statement on the death of her son Trigg, three months after the tragic accident. The influencer broke her silence on the incident via Instagram on Thursday, August 28, sharing a lengthy note recounting how she was coping with grief after her 3-year-old accidentally drowned at home in May. “A loss of this magnitude feels impossible (…)

“Today is the worst day of our lives,” she admitted. “Life can change in the blink of an eye. Today, a real nightmare for parents happened to us.”

Kelly explained that it was “just like a normal day” as she took her daughter Lily to get donuts before dance practice.

“Brian is staying at home with Henry and is preparing to meet us there,” she wrote. “He helped Lily into the car and waved goodbye between our car and Henry in the garage. Within seconds, our son was run over by our car. I was driving.”

She continued: “Our neighbors immediately stepped in and took Lily away and we rushed to the emergency room.”

Fortunately, Kelly confirmed that X-rays and CT scans showed no signs of injury to Henry’s “organs or spinal cord” and that his legs, chest and neck were “normal.”

“The neurological examination was reassuring and there were no signs of head injury or damage,” she noted. “He did have a fracture in his pelvis that will take a while to heal, and some bruising. What struck me was the doctor said: ‘He’s injured, but this is something he can recover from.'” A true miracle. “

She added, “We’re shocked. We’re very sad. But we’re so grateful. … I do know it changed us.”

Kelly encouraged her followers to “hold hands with young children around vehicles” and “don’t assume they know or will stay where you last saw them.”

The parenting influencer shared photos of Henry recovering in a hospital bed and of her holding her son’s heavily bandaged arm.

Kelly was confused that things might have been different if “it looked different in the morning.”

“If B went to work like normal, both kids would be safely in their car seats. Why didn’t we hold him. Why didn’t I double check before exiting,” she asked. “We can go crazy with assumptions, and honestly, we do go a little crazy. But accidents happen.”

Kelly concluded: “I keep thinking about what I would tell my own children if this happened to them one day. It’s a lot kinder than what we tell ourselves now. Accidents happen, and the only mistakes are the ones we don’t learn from. In a very tragic accident, we were on the lucky side.”

The family received an outpouring of support from followers, with one person noting, “Thanks for sharing this. Accidents happen and you deserve sympathy and I hope this is all you receive. If not love is shown in your way.”
