Parallel Web SystemsAI assistant-tool startup founded by the former head of Twitter Parag Agrawal, raised $ 100 million Series B at a cost of $ 2 billion led by Sequoia. Existing investors Kleiner Perkins, Index Ventures, Khosla Ventures, First Round Capital, Spark Capital, and Terrain Capital also participated, the company said.
This upgrade comes just five months after the launch announced his $100 million Series A for $740 million led by Kleiner and Index, and brings the total amount raised to $230 million.
Parallel offers a series of APIs for web search and search specifically for AI providers and client names such as Clay, Harvey, Notion, and OpenDoor. He says his clients include banks and hedge funds (although he did not name them).
Investors’ confidence in Agrawal’s startup should be a boost to him after his time at Twitter and the next lawsuit. Elon Musk famously fired him and all the top after buying Twitter. The executives, including Agrawal, sued, alleging that Musk failed to pay $128 million in payments they believed were owed. In October, Musk dismissed the lawsuit for unknown words.
In addition to other major customers, Parallel tells TechCrunch that it has more than 100,000 developers using its products.
