OpenAI is becoming increasingly important in account security.
The company launched on Thursday Advanced Account Securitya secure group of ChatGPT user logins designed for the elite – but available to anyone who wants them.
As part of the new program, digital security provider Yubico he announced has partnered with OpenAI to add two new security tools to ChatGPT accounts. The company said the agreement was made to protect users from the threat of fraud, which appears to be threatening chatbot users.
The two companies are releasing two “co-branded” YubiKeys – called YubiKey C NFC and YubiKey C Nano.
OpenAI has said that AAS is suitable for political opponents, journalists, researchers, and elected officials – people who work in politics and risk. One would think that it would make sense for business users, whose business secrets are removed from ChatGPT sessions.
“Ultimately, our goal is to significantly reduce the risk of unauthorized access to OpenAI accounts worldwide,” Yubico CEO Jerrod Chong said in announcing the partnership.
Security keys are small pieces of code that can be attached to digital accounts and installed via computer USB ports. A unique cryptographic identifier resides on the key, which allows the holder to access the linked account.

If the threat of fake ChatGPT accounts seems vague, there is a number of books indicating that malicious actors are increasingly targeting chatbot users. Cybercriminals are always on the lookout for information worth stealing and, given the high volume of chatbot chatbots, there is plenty of food for business users and individuals alike.
Digital security is also becoming a top priority for the AI industry. A few weeks ago, Anthropic announced a new product example of cybersecurity called Myths. Perhaps in an attempt to steal the thunder of its competitors, OpenAI has also made several announcements related to digital security. Thursday’s news of the Yubico partnership followed OpenAI to announce that it is introducing a new digital security system.
Of course, an account linked to a security key provides strong security, but it comes with a tradeoff: if the key is lost, OpenAI cannot help find it. In fact, this means that the negotiations may end.
