Nvidia announced another earnings figure after the market closed on Wednesday, reporting the results of the quarter ended April 26. During those three months, the company brought in $81.6 billion in revenue (up 20% from the previous quarter) and a record $75.2 billion in data center revenue. On the strength of that investment, the company is authorizing $80 billion in share repurchases.
“Our Blackwell infrastructure is everywhere, being adopted and deployed by major hyperscalers, every cloud provider, and every model maker,” said Nvidia CFO Colette Kress.
In particular, Nvidia showed a decrease in the economy, predicting $ 91 billion in revenue for the next quarter, which will be a growth of 12%.
Exports to China did not affect the company’s profits. Although the H200s have been approved for export to the US, “we haven’t made any investments yet, and we don’t know if any shipments will be allowed to enter (China),” Kress said.
One surprise was the increase in Nvidia’s shares in privately held companies (listed in the filing as “untraded securities”), which more than doubled between January and April. The company started the quarter with $22 billion in private equity, but ended with $43 billion, driven by $18.5 billion in acquisitions during the quarter. The previous quarter saw just $649 million in comparable purchases.
Notably, this figure does not include Nvidia’s recent investments in publicly traded companies such as Corning and IREN, nor does it reflect future unclosed investments. In particular, Nvidia committed to invest $ 30 billion in OpenAI in February, although the nature of the agreement was not disclosed.
On the earnings call, Jensen Huang highlighted the number of achievements Nvidia has made, including the anticipated Anthropic. “The amount of power we’re going to bring to the Internet at Anthropic this year and next year will be very important,” Huang told investors on the phone. “Our Anthropic explanation was zero until now.”
