Donald Trump praised King Charles III for bringing “Democrats to their feet” in a speech to Congress, as the two exchanged jokes during a state dinner speech on Tuesday.
At a banquet on the second day of the king and queen’s state visit to the United States, the king also poked fun at the Middle East crisis, a naked Churchill in the White House and Trump’s “tweaking” of the White House.
He also joked, “If it weren’t for us, you’d be speaking French,” referring to an eighteenth-century battle between Britain and France for control of North America.
