back Winning Season 29 of sound, Alexia Jay It’s finally time to enjoy the fruits of your labor and decide how to spend your $100,000 prize.
“We haven’t really thought about it yet, but I think we want to buy a house,” Alexia, 31, exclusively shared. US Weekly Thursday, April 16, to celebrate her big win. “I think that’s the direction we’re headed. We’ve been working really, really hard since I was a kid and I just want to provide something really special for my family.”
Alexia, a mother of two who lives in Mobile, Alabama, wasn’t planning on moving directly to the big city. Instead, she envisions a “small-scale” relocation.
“We might go down the road,” she said, “but still be in the south.”
The Voice has been wowing audiences for years with its talent from across America, and has selected 28 winners since its premiere in 2011. Now, it’s all about celebrating a historic victory. On Tuesday, April 14, Alexia became the first black woman to win the NBC singing competition series.

“Coming from a small town like Irvington, Alabama, it’s awesome to be able to make history for them,” Alexia shared of her win. “I’ve been singing since I was two years old, so I never in a million years thought I would make history. But I’m glad that’s me and I’m glad I’m in it.”

In the future, she hopes fans will hear an inspiring album with multiple hits.
“We’re going to keep working. We’re going to release an album and I hope you all like it,” she shared. “What I care about is empowerment. I want to focus on that and I’m going to keep trying to get on these big stages, keep recording, keep working.”

One person she remains particularly grateful for is her coach. For all the fans asking her what it’s really like working with Adam, 47, behind the scenes, Alexia is happy to sing the rock star’s praises.
“He’s really cool, cool, and collected because I’m also cool, cool, and collected,” she told me. us. “Our personalities are a perfect match, and I love that. He doesn’t like too much, and I don’t do too much. So we work really well together.”
