Google’s ‘Create My Widget’ feature allows you to create your own widgets

Google on Tuesday unveiled a new “Create My Widget” feature for Android that lets users make their own widgets dance. The feature will debut on the latest Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel phones this summer.

To create a widget, users will be able to express their needs using natural language. For example, you can ask this feature to “create three high-protein meal prep recipes each week” to get a custom dashboard that you can add and re-pin to your home screen.

Or, if you’re a cyclist who only cares about wind speed and rain, you can create a weather widget that only displays the statistics on your website.

Gemini can also pull data from the web and integrate with Google apps like Gmail and Calendar to create a single, customizable dashboard. For example, if you’re planning a family reunion in Berlin, it can collect information about your travel and hotel reservations, restaurant reservations, and add inventory.

The show highlights Google’s latest push to bring deep AI into the Android experience, as tech companies rush to make the revolutionary tools available to everyday users.

“This is like asking your assistant a question, and asking them to give you an answer when you repeat it,” said Ben Greenwood, director, PM, Android Core Experiences, in a press conference. “So think of it as asking Gemini things about the world, things about his knowledge of what is happening and events, as well as things about your personal knowledge.

The company has announced the new feature along with the unveiling of Gemini Intelligence, which will bring features such as advanced filling, AI-powered Gboard features, and more.
