Google and Apple are reportedly warning visa workers to avoid international travel

Law firms representing Google and Apple have warned that workers who need a visa stamp to re-enter the United States should avoid leaving the country because of longer-than-usual delays, according to Business Insider.

BI says it has seen memos from BAL Immigration Law (which represents Google) and Fragomen (which represents Apple).

“Given the recent changes and the potential for unexpected, significant delays in returning to the US, we strongly recommend that workers who do not have an H-1B visa stamped avoid international travel at this time,” Fragomen said in the memo.

A State Department spokeswoman told BI that embassies are “now seriously prioritizing every visa case above all else.”

Salon also mentions t“hundreds” of Indian professionals who went home to renew their US visas in December have been suspended or suspended due to new screening requirements.

TechCrunch has reached out to Google and Apple for comment. All of these companies, along with major technology employers, gave similar warnings in September when the White House announced that employers would pay $100,000 per H-1B visa application.
