A Georgia prison nurse has lost her job after local officials accused her of smuggling drugs into the prison on behalf of an inmate with whom she was allegedly romantically involved.
Naomi AnthonyThe 34-year-old, who was arrested Wednesday, Jan. 14, for smuggling marijuana into the Fulton County Jail, is now a former nurse contractor who met inmates while working at the Fulton County Jail Antoine McRaean arrest affidavit was shared with US Weekly debate.
Anthony was detained at work, according to the affidavit, which said she came under suspicion when one of her co-workers found a note that read: “Bringing in weed, food for inmates toss in trash, gender determination at nurse’s station, McCray Antoine Fetti BK# 2407249, Nurse Anthony paid her $1,300 via Cash App.”
The note appeared to reference Anthony’s inappropriate relationship with inmate McCray, the affidavit said, noting that investigators found a number of Cash App transactions involving the nurse’s account but did not provide a detailed list of transaction amounts.
Detectives began reviewing surveillance footage from recent weeks and discovered cameras allegedly captured Anthony and another inmate meeting at the nurse’s station. Next, the prisoner walked out of the station with some sort of container in his hand.
He was later filmed sliding the container through a door into the hands of another inmate, the affidavit said.
Three escaped men were arrested in Florida on Monday, December 22, accused of putting a rope around a Lyft driver’s neck and kidnapping her for ten hours. Fulton County Sheriff Pat Labat told WSB-TV Anthony also smuggled cannabis and cigarettes into the prison, along with food she bought from the deli. “She went out and bought matching rings for herself and for our inmates,” Rabat told the station, noting that it was unclear whether the nurse wanted to marry the inmate.
Anthony smuggled the items into the jail by hiding them in her vagina, the affidavit said.
After Anthony’s arrest, prison administrators immediately fired her from her position as a contract nurse. The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office now plans to update the X-ray machines at all jail entrances with new technology that will allow Anthony to be caught red-handed.
She was charged with obtaining, purchasing or providing tobacco products to an inmate without authorization, a felony.

When she was confronted with the accusations, Anthony allegedly denied everything. However, she eventually admitted to her relationship with McCrea, which she said began in October.
NaphCare, the company that contracts with prison nurses, said Anthony was fired Thursday, Jan. 15.
“NaphCare is aware of the investigation and is working with our partner, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office. As a health care provider in a correctional facility, NaphCare strictly prohibits patient contact and contraband. We have a zero-tolerance policy regarding employees bringing contraband into the facility and have responded appropriately.”
Anthony remains in custody and has yet to enter a plea to the charges she faces.
Meanwhile, the investigation continues, according to police. Detectives hope to rule out the possibility that others at the prison were involved in the smuggling operation.
