Gary O’Donoghue describes confusion and fear at correspondents’ dinner

US President Donald Trump was rushed to safety after shots were fired at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

The president and first lady Melania Trump appeared to be having a conversation at the Washington Hilton when they were interrupted by a commotion at the White House table.

Chief US correspondent Gary O’Donoghue attended the dinner and described the scene in the room after hearing the gunshots.
