European NATO allies push back on reports of US threatening Spain

Caught between public opinion hostile to the Trump administration and the imperatives of economic and defense capabilities trying to keep Washington on side as much as possible, a number of European NATO (and EU) countries, led by France and the United Kingdom, are joining others in preparing for international maritime patrols and minesweeping capabilities in the Strait of Hormuz after hostilities end. Among other things, the hope is to appease Trump to some extent.
