Two days the case of Elon Musk vs. Before OpenAI launched last week, Musk texted the prototype maker’s president and co-founder Greg Brockman. Musk urged Brockman to have OpenAI settle the suit.
After Brockman responded by telling both sides to drop their suits, the exchange left, and Musk replied: “By the end of this week, you and Sam will be the most hated men in America.
Everything is according to the new file that was uploaded Sunday with OpenAI lawyers. The deposition did not include copies of the conversation, and information was provided to convince the judge why the conversation should be admitted into evidence. The judge, however, did not have it, ruling that the change was not allowed, according to TechCrunch reporter Tim Fernholz, who are on the website that describes the case.
But the meaning is clear. Musk’s lawsuit seeks to end OpenAI’s profit-making plan, demand that its technology be made available to the public, strip Microsoft of its contract, and compel OpenAI to pay substantial damages, interest, and penalties in addition to its attorney’s fees. After OpenAI advocates publicly shared the phrase “change or not”, the audience immediately closed that perhaps these trials are not about Musk being concerned about the security of AI, but about wanting money from his success while kneeling the enemy. This, in fact, is what OpenAI’s countersuit claims.
The case is still ongoing.
