The case against Membe has been brought as a private prosecution by the Uganda-based Center for Animal Justice and has been funded by the UK-based group We Will Not Be Fooled, which uses online vigilante tactics to expose fake rescue shelters in Uganda. We Will Not Be Deceived said it is working to receive the dogs from raided shelters at existing partner facilities in Uganda.
