“The man has been captured and they are going to his apartment. I guess he lives in California and he is a very sick man, a very sick man,” Trump said at a news conference.

Trump also spoke of the moments after the shooting when he was rushed from the ballroom to a safe location at the Washington Hilton Hotel.
“I’m shocked when something like this happens,” he said. “This happened to me and it will never change. In fact, we sit together and the first lady (Melania Trump) To my right I heard a noise… I thought it was a pallet falling, it was a pretty loud noise and it came from quite a distance away. (The suspect) never arrived in the area. He did get him…but it was a gun. “
The president continued, “Some people figured it out very quickly, others didn’t…I was watching what was going on. Melania was very aware of what was going on, and I think she knew right away what was going on. She said, ‘This is a bad noise.'” And we were taken away. It was so fast…we were out the door in seconds. “
On Saturday, Donald, first lady Melania Trump and several cabinet members were evacuated from the Washington Hilton Hotel amid an emergency. A Secret Service spokesman confirmed the incident occurred at the “Master Magnetometer” at the Washington Hilton hotel. No one in the Trump administration or the gathered media was injured in the incident.
A Secret Service agent was shot and killed, but Trump said he was “saved” because of his protective gear. The agent was taken to a hospital for treatment.

“The Washington, D.C., Secret Service and law enforcement community had an outstanding night. They acted quickly and bravely,” he wrote. “The shooter has been apprehended and I recommend that we ‘let the show go on,’ however, we will be fully guided by law enforcement. They will make a decision very soon. Regardless of that decision, tonight’s circumstances will be very different than planned and we will simply have to do it again.”
