few could have predicted Justin RoseAn impressive surge in the final round of the 2026 Masters — except perhaps for Rose himself.

The British golfer, who has yet to receive a green jacket in his professional golf career, surged to the top of the leaderboard on the final day of competition at Augusta National on Sunday, April 12.

As of press time, the golfer is currently tied for second with just a few holes remaining.

Rose, 45, posted a seemingly prophetic affirmation on his social media accounts ahead of this round on Sunday morning.

“I said it last year…I’ll say it again…let’s get through this day! 🌺assi,” he Share via Xand a photo of the sign outside Augusta National Park.

The comments section of the potentially historic post was filled with positive messages from fans.

“You will look great in green rose, have a great day!” one user commented.

“Good luck today, glad to see you finally get this win. 🤞,” said another.

Rose came close to winning the 2025 Masters last year but lost in the playoffs Rory McIlroy.

The epic match came down to the final few shots between the two golfers.

“The playoffs… always end so quickly,” Rose said after the 2025 tournament. “That’s what sudden death is… If you’re not the guy that’s hitting a great shot or making a great putt, that’s it. That’s the nature of sudden death.”

Rose also finished second at the 2015 and 2017 Masters. He is one of nine golfers in Masters history to finish runner-up at least three times.

The former world No. 1 trailed McIlroy by seven strokes through the first two rounds of this year’s Masters, but recovered by four strokes in the third round on Saturday, April 11. That still leaves Rose three strokes behind the leader heading into Sunday’s race.

Rose’s five birdies on the first nine holes on Sunday gave him the sole lead heading into the back nine, but back-to-back bogeys on the 11th and 12th holes dropped him behind McIlroy in the leaderboard.

In early 2026, Rose broke the record for the lowest score at the Farmers Insurance Open, becoming the first golfer to lead the event from start to finish since 1959.

Before the Masters, Rose said he was “feeling good” about the tournament.

“I feel like when I find my game, I play really well,” Rose said before the Masters. “Farmer is a great example and more evidence that I can still find the best, which is good to know.”
