Block Party founder Tracy Chou he announced On Wednesday the company was bought by Remove Meinternet data extraction service.
A software engineer and supporter of technological diversity, Chou founded Block Party in 2018 as a tool to help people stay safe from the harassment they want on Twitter, inspired by their experiences on the platform.
Chou raised a $4.8 million seed round in 2022 to expand the tool to other social networks, which was very good time – soon, Elon Musk will buy Twitter. Under his ownership, the company began charging access to its APIbut the costs were too high for a startup like Block Party to work, so Block Party was forced to run away and launch tools for other platforms.
Over time, the company switched to browser-based plug-ins “Clean up your social media,” along with more than a dozen other platforms, such as TikTok, Instagram, Venmo, Facebook, and yes, even X.
“In the past, I was famous on the Internet briefly and gradually because of my hard work and motivation,” Chou. he wrote in a blog post. “The effects on my health and immune system were a shocking revelation as I uncovered them, and I found myself shutting everything down.”
That’s when he learned about DeleteMe, which would help him remove his personal information from data vendors and search engines. But there wasn’t a similar thing to help people protect themselves on social media, which led him to create the Block Party. It is fitting that Block Party is now part of DeleteMe.
“Until now, business customers and consumers had to go to different companies to get different solutions,” Chou said. “This acquisition brings all of our products under one roof, and gives everyone who has been asking for them somewhere to go.”

For current Block Party users, nothing will change for now – when the tool is integrated into the larger DeleteMe, the company says it will share information with customers.
He wrote: “I knew a lot about my life on the Internet. We don’t have to choose between having a voice or being safe.”
