Robots competed in a half-marathon in Beijing on Sunday, with the victor leaving their human opponents far behind.
The winning robot, Lightning, was developed by Chinese smartphone maker Honor and completed the competition in 50 minutes and 26 seconds, according to competition organizers.
Ugandan Jacob Kiplimo holds the men’s half marathon world record, which he set in Lisbon in March in 57 minutes and 20 seconds.
About 40% of the robots race autonomously, while others are controlled remotely.
