China coal mine gas explosion moment

A gas explosion at a coal mine in northern China on Sunday killed at least 82 people and left at least two missing, officials said.

Surveillance video broadcast by state media on Monday showed the moment an explosion occurred inside the Liushenyu coal mine in Shanxi province.

The accident is China’s worst mining disaster since 2009, and Chinese President Xi Jinping said that all efforts must be made to carry out search and rescue operations.

The cause of the gas explosion has not been announced, but state media reported that carbon monoxide levels in the mine were found to be “exceeding limits.”
