CCTV captures moment Philippines mayor’s car is hit by rocket

A mayor in the Philippines has survived a rocket launcher attack on his vehicle in broad daylight.

CCTV footage captured the moment one of the attackers opened fire on an SUV carrying Mayor Akmad Mitra Ampatuan, causing an explosion.

Ampatuan’s car can be seen briefly stopping and driving off after the crash.

The city government of Sharif Aguac said in a Facebook post that the mayor survived Sunday’s grenade attack, but two of his security guards were injured, GMA News Philippines reported.

According to media sources, at least three attackers were shot dead by police.

The latest attack was the fourth ambush attempt against Ampatuan in recent years.
