Blue Origin was scheduled to fly the New Glenn mega-rocket after the April crash

Blue Origin’s new mega-rocket, the New Glenn, has yet to be launched. The company said Friday that the Federal Aviation Administration has cleared the rocket to fly again after the top flight crew failed to pay for the April launch.

Blue Origin didn’t provide details, though said the post at X that New Glenn’s upper stage “had a thermal problem” that caused one of the three rocket engines to run lower than expected. As a result, the AST SpaceMobile satellite that Blue Origin was supposed to put into orbit instead burned up in Earth’s atmosphere. (AST SpaceMobile said it had insurance that covered the cost of the lost satellite.) Jeff Bezos’s spaceflight company filed a report with the FAA and took “corrective measures,” but did not specify what those measures were.
