Apple’s Siri update may include auto-delete chats

Privacy will be a big topic when Apple unveils a new version of Siri at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

The relaunch of Siri is seen as a great opportunity for Apple to re-establish its importance in artificial intelligence. As part of these efforts, company executives can say they are taking a more confidential approach than many other AI companies, Gurman said.

Apple says it will launch the first Siri app, powered by Google Gemini and provide users with a chatbot such as chatGPT. But compared to the other chatbots, this app needs to have a limit on the length of time users can use it and save it.

For example, Gurman said Siri could integrate a feature similar to the Messages app, allowing users to delete conversations after 30 days or a year — or keep them forever.

Gurman also said that Apple could emphasize privacy as a way to excuse Siri’s mistakes compared to competing products – and that this emphasis could hide the fact that Google is running on security.
