Apple is giving App Store developers a new way to attract subscribers with affordable plans compatible with a year-round commitment. The company he announced Monday will launch a new subscription model that allows customers to pay for their subscriptions automatically on a monthly basis, and commit to a 12-month plan. This model will allow software developers to offer lower prices to customers to get predictable long-term financing.
This also applies to how many developers have already been selling their annual subscriptions to their software. Oftentimes, software developers will show lower monthly prices to reflect the discount a customer can receive if they purchase an annual subscription instead of a monthly option. If the user is in a position to make a long-term commitment, the idea that they’re getting better can help convince them to opt for an annual plan.
Now, Apple is correcting what these manufacturers were doing before, which allows it to create policies about how these labels should be displayed so as not to mislead customers about the true value of the product.
However, this option is not available to manufacturers in the United States or Singapore for implementation. Although Apple did not provide an explanation for this, it is you’re still on App Store charges in the US around a court ruling in its lawsuit with Epic Games over how Apple can pay for subscriptions. Apple probably doesn’t want to mess with the issue until the issue is resolved.
Singapore, meanwhile, also has a fixed payment market with strong consumer protection laws, which is probably why it was left out of the initial release.

Customers will be able to see details about their subscriptions before they commit, including how their payments are made and how cancellations work. Since customers are agreeing to a 12-month commitment, they can cancel the subscription at any time, but monthly payments will still be deducted from their Apple account until the subscription period ends.
In addition, Apple says in its announcement, customers will be able to easily see the amount of money they have completed and the balance they have left for the subscription they were given by checking this information under their Apple Account. Apple will also send reminder emails and, if logged in, push notifications to remind customers of their next renewal dates.
While the strategy will make it easier for customers to sign up, it can also lock them out of long-term plans if they are sensitive to their cancellations. Because these subscriptions are automatically renewed, a customer may accidentally agree to another 12-month commitment if they forget to cancel early renewal.
Developers will be able to configure these new subscriptions in App Store Connect and test them in Xcode. The new monthly subscription and 12-month commitment will be available worldwide to customers on iOS 26.4, iPadOS 26.4, macOS Tahoe 26.4, tvOS 26.4, and visionOS 26.4, or later, and with the release of iOS 26.5, iPadOS 26.5, tvOS 56 Taho 6.5, tvOS 26.5 26.5 in May.
