Anthropic CPO leaves Figma’s board after reports it will offer a competing product

Mike Krieger, Anthropic’s chief product officer, resigned from the figure maker Figma on April 14.

His departure was disclosed to the US Securities and Exchange Commission and the company was publicly traded for $10 billion the same day. report Anthropic’s next version, Opus 4.7, will include design tools that can rival Figma’s original offerings.

Figma is the most popular tool for user developers who build websites and applications. The company has partnered with Anthropic to incorporate the frontier lab’s AI models into its products as user assistants.

Krieger, who co-founded Instagram and the AI-powered news app Artifact, became head of marketing at Anthropic in 2024, and joined the Figma team less than a year ago.

Krieger’s departure and any upcoming production deals will be another area for investors to fear SAASpocalypse– that the biggest AI labs will dominate the software industry, an idea that has shaken the stock markets at times this year. iShares’s primary software ETF, IGV, is down nearly 18% this year.

Anthropic, meanwhile, is reject investors who want to buy the company for $ 800 billion – more than double from its most recent round at the beginning of the year.
