Alain Prost: Formula 1 driver seriously injured in masked attack, Swiss media says

Formula One superstar Alain Prost suffered head injuries after his home was attacked by a masked gang, Swiss media reported.

Police confirmed a home was attacked by robbers around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, but have not yet released the identity of the victim.

A statement from canton Vaud police said: “Several masked men entered the house. Once inside, they threatened the occupants and caused a minor head injury to a family member. The circumstances are still under investigation.”

“The perpetrator then forced another family member to open the safe and fled,” it added.

The value of the stolen items is still being assessed, it said.

Police added that Swiss and French police and border security launched a “massive search operation” while a psychological support group was also provided to the family.

Prost, 71, won the world title in 1985, 1986, 1989 and 1993 during a 13-year F1 career with McLaren, Renault, Ferrari and Williams.

Only Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton (seven titles each) and Juan Manuel Fangio (five titles) have won more titles than Prost.
