A three-year-old child from Wisconsin disappeared from home in the middle of the night and was found dead the next morning.
The toddler’s identity has not been released. However, New London, Wisconsin police posted a missing persons post via Facebook on Monday, April 13, and shared a photo of the young boy. Authorities said he was last seen around midnight near a middle school.
In the post, the boy is described as 3 feet tall, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing an orange Chicago Bears jersey and diaper.
Police in the news release did not name the school where the child was last seen, but WLUK and WFRV reported it was New London Middle School.
The little boy reportedly wandered four blocks from his father’s home after he checked on him around midnight. Willook. Police were contacted about his disappearance around 5am.
He was reportedly found in Wolf River at 7:17 a.m. and taken to the ThedaCare-New London facility, where he was later pronounced dead. WFRV. It’s unclear how long the boy was in the water or how he got there.

John FaucherThe owner of local store Johnny’s Little Shop of Bait told WSAW about the incident, explaining that he saw police activity along the river after an Amber Alert was issued for the boy.
“We saw drones. We saw a lot of county squads, city squads,” Faucher told the media. “I think we had a lot of cross-agency support from other communities in town. Right here, very close to the middle school, there was a lot of people out there early in the morning. There were teams out looking before daylight.”
Faucher also said there have been recent flooding issues near the Wolf River, with water levels now exceeding 10 feet. He added that the river’s conditions were not normal for this time of year, causing concern among nearby business owners.
“It went to 10.26 feet, which is pretty close to where we’re really nervous,” Faucher said. “We’re sandbagging here just because we know it could come back.”
Faucher said the currents are strong and water levels are higher than normal due to recent rainfall.
“It doesn’t look dangerous, but the current levels are quite dangerous even for healthy people,” he said. “It’s definitely not recommended to be anywhere around it without a life jacket. You can pinch your hands on docks and stuff and they’ll come out slowly as they float down towards you, but they have pretty good momentum at 10,000 cubic feet per second.”
