Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he had a “very constructive” phone call with Donald Trump’s peace envoy Steve Witkov and the US president’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.
Zelensky said they had discussed how to ensure Russia complies with any potential deal to end the war with Ukraine and that he was “determined” to continue working with the United States.

Earlier, Macron confirmed he would hold talks with Zelensky, British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in London on Monday.
The four leaders will discuss ongoing talks between U.S. and Ukrainian officials aimed at reaching an agreement to ensure Ukraine’s post-war security.
The four met virtually two weeks ago to discuss the possible deployment of a European peacekeeping force to Ukraine following a ceasefire.
Sir Keir has repeatedly stressed that Ukraine must decide its own future and said that the voluntary peacekeeping force alliance will play a “vital role” in ensuring national security.

Vitkov said in a statement on Friday that the two-day meeting with Ukraine’s National Security Council Secretary Rustem Umerov was “constructive.”
The statement said Vitkov and Umerov “agreed on the framework of security arrangements” and “discussed the deterrence capabilities needed to maintain lasting peace,” without disclosing details.
The statement added that prospects for ending the war depended on Russia’s willingness to take “measures to de-escalate the situation and stop the killing.”
