After two years first doubtYouTube released it recently volunteer program for Apple Vision Pro.
When the Apple theme was first introduced, YouTube opted for a web-based approach rather than a dedicated app, directing viewers to use Safari to access content. Until now, anyone who wants to watch YouTube on this title has missed out on useful features like offline downloading – which makes it less useful for traveling or offline viewing.
To fill the gap, third-party options, such as Junoappeared briefly on visionOS before being removed for violating YouTube’s Terms of Service.
Today’s announcement changes the game, allowing users to enjoy their favorite content – including both regular videos and YouTube Shorts – on a large theater screen in an immersive environment.
Other notable features include a Spatial tab that allows users to access spatial videos, including 3D, VR180, and 360-degree views. For buyers with the latest Apple Vision Pro models powered by the M5 chip, the app supports 8K playback, an impressive upgrade.
In addition, users can interact with the new visionOS software using manual controls, such as changing windows or scanning videos.
The timing of the app’s release is interesting, as YouTube was initially hesitant to invest in a dedicated version of visionOS, perhaps waiting to see the appeal of the headset. Many major streaming services have offered experiences on the platform since its launch, including Disney +, Amazon Prime Video, Paramount, and Peacock, among others.

Another reason why YouTube’s idea to launch the app now is interesting is that the initial hype surrounding the title seems to have died down.
Even Apple Vision Pro is launching Powered by Apple Intelligence about a year ago, headphone users were said to be warm. Recently comparison it shows that sales have fallen sharply, with only about 45,000 new units shipped in the fourth quarter of 2025. The Financial Times reported that production was halted due to weak demand, leading to a significant reduction in marketing efforts in major markets.
The app is now available in the visionOS App Store and is compatible with both M2 and M5 chip models.
