Are they able to get through it as friends? They’re always on and off, but is this trauma bond going to continue?” Rodriguez teased. “So there’s a lot of fun stuff we can play and explore.”

The tumultuous history of Weir and Ulster will also be explored.

“We see his manipulative ways and he’s trying to get into Will’s head. There’s going to be some interesting twists and some interesting revelations in the second episode,” he continued. “Obviously, we’re going to have some new romances – and maybe some old ones – for the rest of the season. It’s going to be fun.”

Looking ahead to the rest of the season, Rodriguez open up to will Explore his anger.

“It was something we really hadn’t seen a lot of in him. For a guy with such a heavy history, it was the first time he was really in therapy. And then a lot of things started coming to him. So we were very interested in the idea of ​​someone unhooking and peeling back their own hood to see what was inside,” he told us. “The process of therapy, I’ve been through it, and it’s interesting what happens. It can be good, it can be complicated. It can trigger things.”

Rodriguez promised that viewers will see a new side of Will, adding, “For a guy like Will, considering how much he’s been through, he doesn’t really spend a lot of time doing it, he’s just always moving forward and focusing on his work. He keeps himself busy, and those are his coping mechanisms, and now finally has a therapist who’s a little bit unconventional, and her strategies may be a little weird. But I think that’s what a guy like Will needs.”

He concluded: “I love that we took something we’ve seen a million times before in movies and TV shows — which is The Treatment — and we said, ‘How can we make this really different and give it the Will Trent spin that we were trying to do?’ I love it.”
