Landman Have had it before Killed a main character In the season finale—but Sam ElliottWhat’s the next role?
Season 2 will premiere in November 2025, Introducing Tommy’s (billy bob thornton) dadTL (Sam Elliott), who was originally living in an assisted living facility and dealing with some health issues. When TL finally moves into Tommy’s house, his path crosses Tommy’s again.
Since making the change, viewers have spent more time with TL, who sometimes requires the use of a wheelchair due to knee and hip issues. He’s thought about death many times, and in a past episode, Tommy even thought TL died while taking a nap.
The Season 2 finale is set to air on January 18, titled “Tragedy and Flies,” which may foreshadow death. as a fan Taylor SheridanPopular Paramount+ shows know, Jon HammMonty Introduced as the protagonist But eventually died at the end of the first season.
Elliott, 81, previously said extra tv He was booked at Randleman for two years. This could mean that TL is not in real danger yet, or it could be a hint that he will die but return in flashback form.
In 1883, after Eliot teamed up with the 55-year-old Sheridan, come back for Landman.

“(TL’s storyline) is on paper. I’ve had time to think about it. I’m just trying to be open to everything that happens,” he explained to Variety in November. “When you have this material, you don’t look at a piece of material, or at least I don’t look at a piece of material, and say, ‘I really want to cry here,’ or, ‘I really love making the audience cry,’ or whatever. It has to happen naturally.”
Elliott, who was delighted to bring Sheridan’s work to life, added: “One of the greatest gifts of Taylor’s material is that it allows this emotion to flow. I spent most of the season in tears, so it wasn’t what I expected, but that’s what happened.”
The actor related TL’s story to his own life.
“I grew up outdoors for a large part of my life, and there was something about Taylor’s material that I felt hinged on that in some ways. That was really profound for me,” Elliott, Who has a daughter with his wife Katherine Rossexplained. “This person is connected to the earth, something that comes out of the earth. It’s certainly not like 1883, where we were always in the natural environment, but there’s something about it that I personally value.”
He continued: “It’s like where I live. I live in the west end of Malibu. I’ve lived there with my wife and daughter for 50 years. It took me completely away from Los Angeles, which was a choice I made. It was probably not the wisest choice in terms of pursuing a career in film.”
Elliot found it easy to understand the challenges his characters faced. “Here’s a guy sitting in a wheelchair at 81 or 82 years old, watching the sun go down, and having a feeling. I mean, I don’t know what else to say about it. There’s a reason for that,” he concluded. “He was very interested in it and he talked about it in the second episode, the light, the dust, the heat, the lack of moisture and the things that we hate about this country. It hates us all day long and then gives us this sunset. Those elements were very, very strong for me.”
