bridgeton show host Jesse Brownell broke her silence Phoebe Dynevor and Léger-Jean Page At risk of being recast.
“We’re not interested in recasting the character,” Brownell told type Thursday, February 26th. “I think it does a disservice to everything Regé and Phoebe set up in season one and all the wonderful work they put into these characters.”
Brownell doesn’t rule out The screen returns for them.
“We hope to bring them back at some point, but I think, logistically, we want to make sure that when we have something real for them, we’re bringing them back,” she continued. “For them to come back and say a line at the funeral (in Season 4) and prove that they were there, it didn’t feel right for a lot of reasons.”
Bridgerton quickly became a fan favorite after debuting on Netflix in 2020, but not all of the show’s cast members chose to stay. She concluded: “So I think, in my opinion, the cameras don’t capture everything. Assuming they’re there (for this season) — that’s television. But we’d love to find a time at some point in the future to bring everyone back.”

While fans have publicly expressed their disappointment at not seeing more of Simon’s story, Page remains adamant about his decision. Daphne still makes several appearances in Season 2, accompanied by her and Simon’s son Auggie.
However, Dynevor, 30, later confirmed she was quitting the show, which doesn’t appear to have been her choice. “It’s a pity that (I’m) not in Season 3. It’s possible in the future. But as a viewer, I’m excited to watch Season 3,” she told Screen Rant in January 2023 about not being called back to film.
