Rebecca Gayheart She doesn’t shy away from the truth, and that even applies to the plastic surgery she’s had this year.
On Monday, November 17th, as a guest star on ” Rachel Bilson and Olivia Allen’s “Broad Ideas” In podcast, Gayheart, 54, opens up about undergoing some facial surgeries Dr. Jason Diamond In Beverly Hills.
“I’m open to it because I feel like we have to…like, why are we trying to pretend we’re not getting older?” Gayhart explained.
this urban legend The actress added that she believes “we just have to speak out and normalize” having plastic surgery. “I had a rough couple of years, and then I started – gravity really hit, like two years ago, (at) 52. I was like, ‘Wow, this is bad,'” she continued.
“So one of my eyes just droops, and in the photo it looks closed,” Gerhardt said. “One looked open and one looked closed. I was like, ‘I hate this,’ and it bothered me. Of course, Jason said, ‘Yeah, you need to fix this…and when you do this, you need to do this, this, this, this,’ so I did that.”
Gerhardt underwent surgery in July and noted that she has had at least two surgeries. “If they don’t touch anything else, it’s just, like, the neck being pulled,” she explained while demonstrating how to pull the skin.
She admitted that the recovery process was a little stressful because “I’ve never had any surgery, so this was my first surgery. For me, it was a little nervous because I’ve never had any type of surgery. But I will say, Jason is just, he’s the guy who doesn’t make you look crazy.”
Diamond is a surgeon who “has a very soft touch” and “want everyone to look like themselves, but better,” Gerhardt continued. “He only does faces – he’s a facial plastic surgeon. He doesn’t do your boobs, your hips, your ass or anything else, or mommy makeovers or anything like that. He does your face, so he never focuses on that.”
For Gerhardt, the only tricky part of the experience was explaining why she volunteered for the surgery on her daughters. (Gai Xin shares Georgia and Billie and Grey’s Anatomy Star Eric Dane.)

So they saw that, they were going through this with me, and I just explained it to them. I was like, ‘Listen, this might make me feel better about myself. I think that’s okay’. I was like, ‘I’m not going to do anything that I think is dangerous or shocking. You know, it’s going to make me feel better’. My youngest gave me that that my older daughter didn’t, but I think my younger daughter was just nervous.”
Elsewhere on the podcast, Gayhart reflects on some of the reasons why the past few years have been so difficult. Dane, 53, announced that he Diagnosed with ALS In April 2025, one month after Gerhart withdrew the divorce petition filed in 2018. The two have been separated for eight years, and their daughter lives with Gerhardt full-time.
She explained that she is teaching her daughters that “we are here to serve people no matter what,” even if the situation is complicated. “He’s our family. He’s your dad,” Gayhart said. “We showed up, we tried to do it with some dignity and some grace and we got through it.”
“We’ve been separated for eight years. The kids live with me 100 percent of the time. There’s a lot of stuff, other stuff,” she explained. “I try to stay positive about it all, though. I try to learn from it and be an example to them of how to go through something like this, which is really hard.”
