Multiple winners beeped during their acceptance speeches at the 2026 awards ceremony oscar award.
The first censored moment of the night came when the costume designer Kate Hawley While thanking my family, I cursed win for her job frankenstein.
“And my family, they’ve put up with a lot of shit over the years,” Hawley said during the live broadcast, which beeped.
Later that night, Mike Hill also swore in while accepting the award for Best Makeup and Hairstyling for Frankenstein.

Kate Hawley wins best costume design award frankenstein. Her speech began with a touching tribute to her team.
“On behalf of myself and the amazing team of people I work with – the artisans, the alchemists, the dream weavers – we are so grateful to the Academy for recognizing our craft,” she said before expressing her gratitude to the director. Guillermo del Toro. “Thank you for your vision and taking us on your journey. It’s an honor to be a part of it. All of our nominations are your nominations. We share that with you.”
Hawley also had “a lot of praise for our amazing cast” before thanking her family.
“And my family, they’ve put up with a lot of shit over the years…” she said, making a tooting sound before signing off, “I’m so, so grateful, so grateful for your recognition of our craft.”

Mike Hill wins Best Makeup and Hairstyling Jordan Samuel and Cleona Fury for frankenstein. Before delivering his speech, Hill struggled to remove his glasses from his suit pocket, causing him to curse and beep. Hill came to his senses and spoke his mind.
“It’s an honor to be here. Thank you so much,” Hill said. “We had a feeling when we were making this film that we were part of something very special and tonight really confirmed that, so thank you.”

Gwendolyn Yates Whittle is one of the winners of the Best Sound Award F1. She took the stage with her colleagues Gareth John, Al Nelson, Gary A. Rizzo and Juan Peralta. As Whittle spoke, she seemed to be cursing and trying to recite from memory. After hearing the beep, she apologized and read a prepared statement.
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry! We are grateful to our partners, our parents, our children, our grandchildren. The movie was made for you,” she read. “Go see blockbusters, go see indie films. Be inspired, go with friends and get a fresh perspective.”
