Pete Renewed for third seasonBut after multiple cast members exited, word on who will and who won’t return has been glossed over.
When the medical drama premieres on HBO Max in January 2025, The audience is happy to see Noah Wyle More than calling the doctor again after an emergency. not long after us Fall in love with the entire cast, including Dr. Robbie (Wyle), Dr. Collins (Tracey Ifejo), Dr. Langdon (Patrick Power), charge nurse Dana (Catherine LaNasa), Dr. Mohan (Supriya Ganesh), Dr. McKay (Fiona Dourif), Dr. King (Tyler Dearden), Dr. Santos (Isa Briones), Whitaker (Jaylan Howell) and Javadi (Shabana Aziz).
Season 2 looks a little different Most of the actors are back ——Except Ifeachor. In July 2025, a source told Us Weekly that Ifejo’s character, a fourth-year resident in the first season, had always planned to continue becoming a doctor in future episodes.
The insider notes that due to the nature of “Pete,” Dr. Collins will not appear in season 2, but Ifeachor “has not chosen to leave the show” and is not aware that “any door to a potential return has been closed.”
The same reason was used when news broke that Ganesh would not be reprising her role in season three. Off-screen, fans expressed disappointment that multiple beloved characters didn’t return for more episodes.

Tracy Ifejo.
Warwick Page/MAXAfter leaving the show, Tracy Ifejo has spoken about whether she could return in the future.
“I’m so happy and happy to be able to play Dr. Heather Collins and know that my character is so popular. It blows my mind,” Ifeachor told us in September 2025. “I don’t know where she’s going to be on the weekends next season, but I know where I’ll be, and it’s my next project, which is awesome. But I learned a lesson from playing Dr. Heather Collins — playing this character who went through such a traumatic event but still shows up to other people every day.”
She continued: “[No one]stopped to ask her if she was okay, if she needed a break, if she needed to run away. I think as a woman, we carry a lot of emotional labor sometimes without even realizing it. I learned that through this role, so I wouldn’t change that. This experience really changed my life.”

Season two shows Landon returning to work after battling drug addiction, which may continue to be explored.
