Waymo is reportedly raising $16B in funding

There he is almost completed a new round of $16 billion which would cost the robotaxi company $110 billion, according to the Financial Times.

More than three-quarters of the money will come from a source close to home – Alphabet, where Waymo is a sponsor. (The company was incorporated as part of Alphabets “moon painting factory” X.)

The FT reports that Waymo is bringing in new investors Dragoneer, Sequoia Capital, and DST Global, with existing backers Andreessen Horowitz and Abu Dhabi sovereign fund Mubadala also participating.

When contacted by TechCrunch, a spokesperson for the company said, “While we are not commenting on the financials, our actions are clear: more than 20 million trips have been completed, we are focused on safety-led efficiency and the technological leadership necessary to meet the many demands of autonomous travel.”

The company is growing rapidly, including the latest launch in Miami. This development has come with some challenges, including multiple robotaxis stopped at the robot during San Francisco’s darkest days.

Waymo has more than $350 million in annual recurring revenue, according to the FT. The company finished raised a Series C of $5.6 billion in 2024costing the company $45 billion.
