Video taken by ICE agent who fatally shot Minneapolis woman emerges

A video taken by the U.S. immigration agent who shot and killed a woman in Minneapolis on Wednesday has emerged, showing the moments before the gunfire rang out.

The 47-second video, obtained by Minnesota outlet Alpha News, shows Renee Nicole Good sitting behind the wheel of a car talking to a police officer.

US Vice President Vance shared the video on social media and commented that the agents acted in self-defense. Local officials insisted the woman posed no danger.

Goode’s wife paid tribute to the 37-year-old, saying the pair were working to support their neighbors when she was shot. Her death sparked protests across the United States.

The Trump administration said Goode blocked the road and hindered the work of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

The BBC has asked the Department of Homeland Security and the White House to comment on the new video, which was released on Friday.

The footage begins with the officer getting out of his car and filming Goode’s car as he walks around it. There was a dog in the back seat.

“That’s good, man. I’m not mad at you,” Goode said.

A second woman, thought to be his wife, was standing in the street filming the interaction on her mobile phone. She appeared to tell the ICE agent: “We don’t change license plates every morning…just so you know when you come to us later, it’s going to be the same license plate.”

She added: “You want to come to us? I say, go get some lunch, big boy.”

Another agent approached Goode on the driver’s side and said, using an expletive, “Get out of the car.”

The agent who filmed the video walked up to Goode’s car as she backed it into reverse.

In a few chaotic seconds, she turned the wheel to the right and drove forward.

The camera suddenly shot up into the sky. “Wow wow wow!” A voice said along with a loud noise.

In the final part of the video, the car can be seen swerving on the road. ICE agents swear.

Other previously released video from the scene showed the maroon SUV hitting the curb.

The FBI is investigating the incident.

On Friday, Vice President Vance retweeted the video on X and defended the agent’s actions, saying: “The reality is his life was threatened and he fired in self-defense.”

White House spokesperson Carolyn Leavitt also retweeted the video, saying the media had smeared an ICE agent who “properly protected himself from being crushed.”

Goode’s wife, Becca Goode, told local media that the two went to the scene of the immigration enforcement event to support their neighbors.

“We have whistles,” she said. “They have guns.”

When it comes to being “good,” she says “she radiates kindness.”

She added: “We are raising our son to believe that no matter where you come from or what you look like, we all deserve compassion and kindness.”
