A masked fan unplugged a video assistant referee (VAR) monitor during a match in Germany’s second division on Sunday as the referee was checking a penalty award on a pitchside screen.
The incident occurred at the end of the first half of Cologne Prussia Munster’s 2-1 home defeat to Hertha Berlin in the second round of the Bundesliga.
VAR asked referee Felix Bicker to view the incident on the pitchside monitor but found the screen to be blank.
With Bicker unable to make the call, VAR referee Katrin Rafalski ruled it was a foul and Bicker awarded a penalty, giving Hertha Berlin the goal.
