Uber and Lyft will begin testing Baidu’s Apollo Go robot in London in 2026, joining local startup Waymo and Wayve as companies that will have autonomous vehicles in the city next year.
Lyft CEO David Risher said in a post on X and LinkedIn that Lyft will begin testing once it receives local approval. His company “intends to scale up to hundreds” of Baidu’s electric RT6 SUV from there, though he did not specify when sales would begin.
Uber announced that it plans to test cars there next year as part of its partnership with Baidu, which the companies announced in July. The company said it hopes to begin testing in first half of 2026.
The two London-based twin taxis are the latest in a series of robotaxis that have seen Uber and Lyft vie with Baidu, Waymo, and many others to launch services in cities around the world.
