U.S. Supreme Court appears skeptical of Trump’s plan to restrict birthright citizenship


During more than two hours of arguments, U.S. Solicitor General John Sauer sought to convince the justices that the Fourteenth Amendment, which established birthright citizenship and extended its scope to formerly enslaved people, as well as subsequent court rulings and laws passed by Congress, wrongly expanded birthright citizenship.
