Trump plans to visit Venezuela — but his oil plans still face hurdles


During the Chávez presidency, Venezuela reclassified its reserves. Previously, it was thought that there were only 80 billion barrels of recoverable oil, but by 2011, the reported figure had almost quadrupled. High oil prices at the time enabled changes in statistics that made previously unfeasible projects appear feasible.
